The new thermal imaging cameras from FLIR not only collect thermal data but also record video footage.
In order to make image display and storage easier, FLIR has developed, with the assistance of Tritech, an advanced chip that manages the videos.
The chip enables the camera to provide both digital and analog video – all via firewire protocol. In order to be able to save large amounts of data on the memory cards, the chip has an encoder that heavily compresses the video recordings.
