Autoliv’s Night Vision system uses an infrared camera technology that significantly improves a driver’s night vision. The camera detects heat that radiates from the surroundings, and is calibrated to be especially sensitive to the temperature of humans and animals. The image from the camera goes to an ECU that processes the image and then sends it to a monitor placed in the vehicle’s dashboard (see image).
Tritech’s part in the project has mainly concerned tests of subsystem software, but also validation of the system as a whole. For example, Tritech has worked with the CAN bus, system specifications, adaption of customer specfications and writing of test scripts. When writing test scripts, the tested software has been adapted to the customer’s CAN protocol. The test cases are automated as far as possible and the ones that are fully automated are integrated in Autoliv’s tests.
