Novator has developed a drilling technology that enables customers to improve quality and increase productivity. The technology, called orbital technology, combines drilling and cutting movements of the drilling units, which makes high-precision drilling possible in stacks of combined materials. The technology also enables countersinking without changing tools. Most of Novator’s customers today are in the aircraft industry.
Tritech and Novator have acted as partners regarding development of electronics and software in embedded systems ever since Tritech first began working with Novator. In this project Tritech has further developed the control system for a new generation of portable drilling units (PM40).
The project includes development of electronics and software. The processor board in the drilling unit manages, besides the drilling technology itself, also a number of different sensors, automatic hole identification using RFID as well as communication via CAN with an external control cabinet.
