Siemens Security Products, formerly Bewator, is Sweden’s leading supplier of security solutions. Their product portfolio includes access control, integrated security systems and video surveillance.
Tritech has developed electronics, mechanics, antennas, software, as well as the ZigBee-based wireless communication for the code lock Codoor. The system relies on a radio based mesh-network, which is a very flexible system for finding the route from end-node to central-node. This results in a drastically reduced need for cabling, which increases installation efficiency and lowers the cost for the customer.
The project was carried out between 2007 and 2008 and Tritech today produces the radio modules for the code lock and router as well as maintains the electronics and software.
The access control system was introduced during 2009 and has been met with great interest. It is one of the first commercially available access control systems which utilizes ZigBee. The solution was nominated for an Innovative Achievement Award at Detektor International 2008, with the following motivation:
“This product consists of reader, lock, code panel and power supply. It communicates wirelessly and offers online functionality which makes it into a very competitive solution.”
